Power Transfer With Shear Bolt Protection

A PTO driveline is the telescoping, universal-jointed shaft that carries power from the tractor's PTO to the implement's gearbox — and this one protects what's behind it with a shear bolt clutch. When an implement overloads or hits an obstruction, the sacrificial shear bolt is engineered to break, disconnecting the drive before the shock can damage the driveline, gearbox, or tractor PTO. Replacing a broken shear bolt is a quick, inexpensive job — so it's smart to keep spares on hand. Compared with a slip clutch, the shear bolt is a simpler, lower-cost form of overload protection.
